Resurrection Parish – Sacraments

Baptism

Please contact Deacon John Falkowski at 368-0146, ext 110 to register for classes. First time parents are invited to attend two pre-Baptismal Classes; one on the Theology of Baptism and the other on Christian Parenting and Belonging to Community. Returning parents are invited to attend the ongoing Christian Parenting and Belonging to Community class.

Sacramental Preparation for First Reconciliation and First Communion

Sacramental preparation happens alongside, or in addition to Christian Formation. Per diocesan guidelines, previous to enrolling in sacramental preparation the child must have attended a full year of Christian Formation (titled “CFP” here at Resurrection), have been enrolled in Catholic schooling, or be in an approved FIRE or homeschooling program. Therefore, if a child is enrolled in CFP in first grade, in second grade they would reenroll in CFP and additionally enroll in the sacramental preparation program.

Parish preparation for both sacraments is geared to children who are in 2nd or 3rd grade. Separate programming is available for older children. First Reconciliation is celebrated in the winter of the 2nd or 3rd grade year and then First Communion is celebrated in the spring. Again, a separate preparation program is available for children in the 4th grade or older as well as for children with disabilities or special learning needs.

For more information, contact Cory in the Christian Formation Office at 368-0146, ext.104. Please see the calendar on the website found in “Elementary” for more details.

Reconciliation

Individuals may celebrate the sacrament on Tuesday evenings at 6:30pm or Saturdays at 4:45pm in the Reconciliation room located in the parish chapel. In addition, you may always call to schedule an appointment with Fr. Bill Graney. His phone number is 368-0146, ext. 102.

Confirmation

Preparation for the reception of the sacrament is normally during the young person’s 9th year in school with the reception of the sacrament in the fall of the 10th grade. A prerequisite is participation in the parish Christian Formation Program or attendance in a Catholic school. The candidate must have been in one of the above program for one full year before becoming part of the Confirmation program. For more information, contact Vanessa at 368-0146, ext. 107

Confirmation Sponsor Form

Adult Confirmation

To prepare for the reception of the sacrament of Confirmation after the age of 18, please contact Fr. Bill Graney at 368-0146, ext. 102.

Sacrament of the Sick

Great care and concern should be taken to see that the faithful whose health is seriously impaired by sickness receive this sacrament. The sacrament may be repeated if the sick person recovers after being anointed and then falls ill or if during the same illness the person’s condition becomes more serious. To request the sacrament, please contact Fr. Bill Graney at 368-0146, ext 102.

Marriage

Couples need to meet with a priest one year before the date to begin marriage preparation. Preparations will include participation in a diocesan sponsored Pre-Cana or Engaged Encounter Program and meets with the priest. To begin the process, contact Fr. Bill Graney at 368-0146, ext. 102 or Fr. Greg Corrigan at 368-0146, ext. 120.
