As the song says “We are called, we are chosen, we are Christ for one another.” So must we all listen to the Spirit calling us to serve and imitate Christ. Listed below are opportunities available to you to serve in Liturgical Ministry within our parish. Please take some time to look over this information to discern if Liturgical Ministry is where you are being “called” to serve.
Our greatest current needs are for ushers, greeters, sacristans and altar servers….

ALTAR SERVER: Young people (fifth grade and up) and adults assist priest and deacon at liturgies. This can be a great parent/child ministry! Many of our best servers are teens. Adults are very welcome. Frequency depends on number of servers available.
BREADBAKING: Prepare Eucharist bread for Sunday liturgies. It takes approximately two hours to prepare the bread. We use a recipe that includes only wheat and water, provide specific instructions in formation sessions, and a mentor for those new to this ministry. Frequency is dependent upon the number of volunteers. Great “family” ministry.
CHILDREN’S LITURGY OF THE WORD (CLOW): Adults and youth help to proclaim and break open the word and respond in prayer with our children through Children’s Liturgy of the Word in a separate space. Frequency is dependent upon the number of volunteers.
GREETERS: A ministry of hospitality for friendly, outgoing men and women. Greet the assembly and distribute bulletins at Mass as well as communicate parish “traditions” to newcomers. Frequency is dependent upon the number of volunteers.
LINEN SACRISTAN: Cleans the altar linens. Frequency is dependent upon the number of volunteers.
MASS SACRISTAN: Works in the Sacristy 15 minutes before/after the Mass preparing the vessels, bread, wine to be shared at our “Eucharistic Meal”. Frequency is dependent upon the number of volunteers. Men, women, families are all welcome!
SACRED DANCE: Adults and children dance to enhance the liturgy. Rehearsals required.
SEWING: Sew linens, banners, altar coverings, etc. Material provided on an as needed basis.
ENVIRONMENT: Implement Worship Space environment for each liturgical season. Serves approximately five/six times a year after the 10:30 AM Mass for about two hours. Great family opportunity.
USHERS: Assist with seating and taking up the collection; begin communion procession. Frequency is dependent upon the number of volunteers.
EXTRAORDINARY MINISTER OF HOLY COMMUNION: Distribute communion at Mass. Initial formation and ongoing study is required, as well as meeting Diocesan requirements. Members serve on teams and are scheduled as such.
LECTOR: Prepare the readings and proclaim God’s Word at Mass. Initial formation and ongoing study are required. Lector teams meet every 7 weeks for 1 ½ to 3 hours to prepare.
MUSICIAN: Singers and instrumentalists serve the assembly in singing the liturgy on Sunday and Holy Days. Reasonable proficiency required. Includes Youth Music Group. Rehearsal required.
RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS (RCIA) SPONSOR: For adults who wish to take a more active role in walking with those who are not baptized (catechumens) through the process of Initiation into the Catholic Christian community.
RCIA ADAPTED FOR CHILDERN: For adults and children who would like to share their faith with those children who are not baptized and desire initiation into the Catholic Christian community.
