"I love this house, O Lord, the place where your glory dwells." Psalm 26:8
After lots of cleaning, vacuuming, as well as a new coat of paint, our Chapel is more beautiful than ever. In returning the Chapel furniture to its previous location, it was obvious that by separating the chapel chairs, buy just an inch or two, we could still accommodate the same number of seats, but give each person a little more space. It also allows us to add a hymnal holder to every seat (previously, we chose to have one less hymnal per row of chairs so that the end hymnal holder would not cause difficulty walking between the rows. Now, that concern is gone!
Also, we were easily able to add a Presider's Chair. It is just another chair like all the rest in the Chapel (so it is not an elevated throne or something set aside because the presider is someone special). But our church has always provided a chair that is placed separately for the Presider of the liturgy. In our Catholic church there are 3 required pieces of church furniture: the Altar, the Ambo, and the Presider's Chair. The Chair represents our continued welcome to Christ himself and one of the feasts of the Catholic church is the feast of the Chair of Saint Peter.
The gift of the stain glass windows, works of art given to us by Henry Krysiak and Jon Barber, are recognized as a personal gift given to the whole community. On September 14, 2014 after teh 10:30am Sunday Mass, our Pastor, Bill Graney, will blesseded those windows as a sign of the holiness, not of the windows, but of the holiness of God's Presence which the people of Resurrection Parish assemble to celebrate.
By cleaning, painting, and adding these small but important improvements to this sacred space, we witness our desire to Celebrate so that ALL may benefit from its simple but splendid beauty, its welcoming grace.
Blessings to you.
peace,
