You cannot get there, You can only be there. For Paul, community is the living organism that communicates the Gospel message. Paul, like Jesus, wants to change culture, not just send people to a far off heaven.
Parish Buzz:
Mike Reis cooked for a 100 parishioners at the Parish Cookout. A good time was had by all.Fr. Bill described it as 8:15meets 10:30.Kudos to Cory Z. for organizing.
Singing at 5:30 PM Mass on Saturday was good.
Weeds sprouting thru repairs in rear of parking lot.
Charitable Giving Committee Report: Katie Hegedus presented the Charitable Giving Committee proposal for the next fiscal year in comparison to the current year. This shows the elimination of both donations to the ISD food distribution program and the support of Second Chances. The resultant $200 per month ($2400 per year) is added to Outreach increasing the weekly Outreach allocation to $345. All other donations to charitable organizations are staying the same. The amount of charitable giving for FY2015-16 is the same as this year based on the same amount of Offertory giving estimated for next year.
Election Committee Report: Dick Schwer led discussion and reported that the 153 parishioners voted in PC elections. New Members will be notified and invited to the June Meeting. The Parish Council Photo will be updated at the June Meeting.
Youth Committee Update: James Davidson reported that the Youth Car Wash raised $1300 for the Summer Service Project. For the year, fund raising activities have raised sufficient funds to cover costs associated with the Summer Service Project. James also informed the council that he will study physics at the University of Delaware in September.
July Picnic: Mike Reis announced the combined Parish Council and Staff Summer Social will be held on July 12
th.He sought a volunteer to host the social at their home. Joan Budd answered the call. Thank You Joan! Donna Ramage agreed to write an invitation and to circulate a sign-up sheet for food contributions at the June Meeting.
Finance Committee Update: Mike Reis led the discussion of the annual report of the Finance Committee to the Parish Council. The one page summary was reviewed.
Pastor’s Comments: Fr Bill told of us a book he read, “Wake Up Lazarus” which dealt with church renewal from a sociologists point of view. One topic Bill was interested- Would Liturgy at Resurrection be classified as participatory? Engaging homily is preferred.
Fr Bill also described the Cornerstone renewal experience. Witness talks given by a core group of Parishioners followed by table discussions similar to Cursillo form the heart of the program. The program lasts 26 hours from Friday evening to Saturday night. Resurrection is looking to begin Cornerstone in January or February 2016.
Need a couple of volunteers to attend the experience in New Jersey. Other volunteers will be needed speakers, support staff for meals (prepared by caterer and served by parishioners) Men from St. Mary’s in Hockessin will help in planning.
Kitchen Expansion update if goal is to cook from scratch versus keep food warm more regulation is involved.
