The revised PC Bylaws were adopted by consensus and implemented. It was noted now with the revised by-laws, the Deacon, Associate Pastor, and a representative of the Finance Council are ex-officio voting members.
The Council recognized the hard work of the 50th Anniversary Committee, noting that the recent reception Mass and picnic in June were great!
Committee Reports:
Parish Life: Nancy Maloney
They are pursuing a Youth Basketball team.
Resurrection has been signed up for Newark Community Day on Sept 15. More information will be published soon, and help staffing the booth is requested.
It was suggested that this be published in the bulletin and weekly newsletter.
New Business
An announcement was made regarding the next PC meeting on September 8, noting that new officers would be elected and PC goals need to be set for the coming year.
The goal setting portion of the meeting will be planned by Sharon Gidumal, Joe Quinn, and Father Bill. A facilitator will be used.
Thoughts/Guidance from Father Bill
Regarding Parish goals:
Need to “flesh out”/improve standing committees
Need to improve communications/PR
Would like to increase volunteers in Pastoral Care for the sick and abandoned
Not too concerned about other Social Justice activities – believes we are known as a parish with active Social Justice ministries.
Before the meeting was adjourned, Jim Murray asked for the Parish to consider a $175 sponsorship for an event to benefit Jesus House and asked how that could happen. That will be pursued.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:55 pm
Respectfully submitted,
Sharon Gidumal
Secretary du jour
