Update from Father Greg Corrigan My doctor is pleased with how my right knee is healing and has scheduled left knee surgery for Monday, November 15. While I’m not looking forward to “starting over again,” the improvement in my right leg (less pain!) is so significant that I am grateful and hopeful that the next surgery will go as well.
Thank you all for the prayers, the cards, the calls, and the “goodies.” You are so kind and good to me.
I am currently reading Matthew Kelly's book Life is Messy. His writing is so relatable and filled with wisdom. “Life is messy. It’s unavoidable. It’s just life,” Kelly writes. “You can ignore it, avoid it, and deny it… or, you can realize that the mess is not the problem… in fact, your messy life can serve a powerful purpose.” “We are all broken. We live in hard times, a culture that is becoming uniquely uncivilized. The way we treat other people has changed. Some things happen that hurt so deeply we wonder if they will ever stop hurting.” Kelly continues, “When we are betrayed by others, we become stunned, disoriented, and depressed.”
The central question of the book is “Can someone who has been broken be healed and become more beautiful and more lovable than before?”
Kelly would say, “Yes.” He writes, “God created us to be each other’s healers. We each possess the gold dust needed to glue other people back together. Our love, connection, acceptance, forgiveness, community, and kindness are that gold dust.”
How would your life change if your only goal was to do as much good as possible? Don’t just love, astonish people with your love. Bring Christ to others. Seek Christ in others.
