The National Directory of Catechesis states that the aim of catechesis is “to bring about in the believer an ever more mature faith in Jesus Christ, a deeper love and knowledge of his person and message, and a firm commitment to follow him.” The Directory also notes that catechesis should be a lifelong process for the adult, who is really the focus of catechetical efforts because of his/her ability to make a full response to God’s word.
An important element in this catechetical effort is the local parish community. It is the place where the Christian faith is first received and where that faith is deepened. In this community of faith, the faithful become aware of being the people of God and of their apostolic mission in the world.
One of the paths that Resurrection Parish has chosen to present a catechesis is through its Small Faith Sharing Groups. Here the leadership of the parish family firmly believes that the faithful will deepen their faith as the people of God and come to understand their role to be “lights to the world.”
Small faith-sharing groups meet seasonally and some meet throughout the year. There are groups meeting almost everyday. If you wish to join a group, please contact Deacon John Falkowski at 368-0146 x 110 or email at jfalkowski@resurrectionde.org for more details.
God Bless!
